It appears as though Nintendo has been doing more than just developing games in the year since Wii U debuted at E3 2011. If a recent leaked photograph posted to Twitter is any indication, the company has been making some small - yet important - alterations to the system’s controller as well.
Nintendo is launching U tablet, the Wii U is Nintendo’s successor to the popular Wii. It will feature a console similar to – though slightly larger than – the Wii and an accompanying tablet-like wireless controller that will be used to interact with the console and its games.
Some of these changes are obvious, but some are more subtle. The most blatant change to the Wii U controller - and certainly the one everyone is talking about - is the apparent removal of the 3DS-esque analog sliders. The Second most visible changes to the controller is the movement of the Start and Select buttons, as well as bit of an embellishment to the Home icon. All in all, it appears as though Nintendo is contemplating the precise form of its innovative, unconventional controller.
Currently Nintendo has not confirmed any possible price for the Wii U. However, historically Nintendo has a habit of releasing their consoles at a more affordable price. The off-the-shelf parts rumoured to be inside the console itself suggests Nintendo may well be aiming for as low an initial price as possible.
