Several reports on the internet, claiming that Acer is planning to launch Android tablet, Acer Iconia B1, with a price tag of $99. The company is likely to launch the low-cost tablet early 2013.If rumours are to be believed, the tablet will feature a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, and will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage,. It will likely run on Android Jelly Bean.
The Wall Street Journal reports says that the tablet will have somewhat similar specs to Amazon's Kindle Fire and the Barnes & Noble's Nook Color.Images of the Acer Iconia B1 leaked earlier this month on a Serbian forum, so it looks like Acer is certainly readying something, but whether it will sport that attractive price tag is another question
The move comes in an attempt to challenge Apple and Google in the low cost tablet space. Google is also rumoured to have a $99 Nexus tablet in the works for quite sometime now and it's possible to see the device make a debut at CES 2013.
