Nook 8GB Tablet Coming on February 22nd

In an attempt to catch up to the No. 2 tablet manufacturer, Amazon, Barnes & Noble will soon launch a cheaper 8GB model of the Nook Tablet.

The new device was first reported on by tech blog The Verge, which noted the Nook Tablet currently costs $50 more than the Amazon Kindle Fire. The tech blog said the device appears to be the same as a previous model, but with less onboard storage.

The rest of the specs stay the same and the new storage amount matches the one of the Kindle Fire. Walmart intends to launch the new device at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, February the 22nd. Deliveries of the 8GB tablet should be arriving in stores already. If you’re not familiar with the Nook Tablet, or it hasn’t reached your part of the world yet, know that the original $249 device came with Netflix and Hulu Plus as content providers, a 7 inch touchsccreen with VividView technology, over 2.5 million books and magazines at hand and smooth streaming video.
