Acer A200 at $329 10-Inch Android Tablet

Acer's new 10-inch, Ice Cream Sandwich-ready Android tablet is available at $329 for its 8GB model and 16GB model at $349. The Acer Iconia A200 will initially launched with Android 3.2 Honeycomb on Jan. 15, but it will receive an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade later in February.
The Acer A200 has a full-sized USB port, for instance, to attach hard drives, keyboards and mice; there's also a MicroUSB port and a MicroSD memory card slot. but no rear camera, the front-facing camera is 2 megapixels for high-quality video chats.

10-inch tablet is a pretty standard size and with below below specification:
  • Dimensions 10.2 x6.9 x0.48 inches (HWD)
  • Weight 24.6 ounces;
  • Nvidia Tegra 2,
  • 1-GHz dual-core processor;
  • 1280-by-800 LCD screen;
  • Bluetooth 2.1;
  • 3260mAh batteries (good for eight hours)
  • Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Color- black(front);red and gray (back)

"The primary focus from Acer is to keep the pricing down, make it more affordable but still maintain the large screen," product manager Eric Ackerman said. He hinted that Acer's press conference at CES, on Sunday, January 8, may introduce other tablet models as well.
"It would be logical to presume we're working on a next-generation 10-inch tablet of a high caliber," he said. "The tablet market is a fun category in that it refreshes quickly, and [moving quickly] is one of our strengths."

The Iconia Tab A200 follows up on last year's 10-inch A500 and 7-inch A100, which were pretty good value performers in the Android tablet realm. But the entire product line suffered from the fact that Google-approved Android tablets just haven't taken off, thanks in large part to Google's poor handling of tablet apps in the Android Market.
Google's Ice Cream Sandwich, hopefully, will change that situation by making phone and tablet apps more similar and compatible with each other.Acer's Ackerman said that having a "unified user interface on multiple-size devices" will help ICS apps play better on both tablets and phones.
"Out of the gate, new apps will work better on multiple size devices," he said.
The A200 is likely to be just the first of many Android tablets announced over the CES 2012 period. The huge trade show runs from Jan. 9 to 12, and we'll be there reporting on all the developments.
