Asus' Padfone is finally going up for pre-order,and will launch at April 20 but only in Taiwan for now. According to Taiwan News,ASUS is getting ready to finally launch that PadFone tablet/phone combo, that’s already available for pre-order in Taiwan, starting tomorrow.The Padfone will launch only in Taiwan at April 20, with availability in Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany and other European countries to follow. There's still no word on a U.S. launch.
The Asus PadFone is an interesting device. This is a little Android smartphones with a 4.3-inch display that can be turned into a tablet (10.1-inch display) and then dock with a keyboard and trackpad, similar to the Asus Transformer. In other words, it's a phone that turns into a tablet that turns into a laptop.
And the the Snapdragon S4-powered 1.5GHz dual-core Phone by itself will cost $610, while the whole tablet set, including that curious Bluetooth headset / stylus-- will costs $850.Add to that the keyboard accessory and you’ve got a total of $980.(phone +tablet dock+laptop dock =$650+$240+$130)
We are not sure if the European pricing of the Asus Padfone will be the same as the one in Asia, but we should find out soon enough.
