Toshiba today announced three new additions to its family of Excite tablets. The most interesting is the Excite 13, a massive tablet with a 13.3-inch model with a high-resolution display and quad-core processor. The company is also phasing out its 7- and 10-inch Thrive tablets, which will be replaced with the new Excite line of tablets running Android 4.0.
The three tablets have a lot in common , Excite 7.7, Excite 10 and the Excite 13 runs Android 4.0 under a Gorilla Glass display, and is powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor. Each tablet has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter, along with stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The 13.3-inch display on the Excite 13 is a 1600 x 900 backlit LED; the Excite 10 has a 1280 x 800, 10.1-inch screen; and the 7.7-inch model has a gorgeous AMOLED display much like the one we loved in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. All promise at least 10 hours of battery life, and both the 10 and 13 claim you'll get 13 hours of use.
Here's some physical attributes that really differentiates them
•Excite 7.7: Has a 7.7-inch AMOLED display at 1280x800 resolution (196 ppi). Is 0.3 inches thick and weighs 13.4 ounces. Available in June for $499.99 for 16GB, $579 for 32GB.
•Excite 10: Has a 10.1-inch LED display at 1280x800 resolution (149 ppi). Is 0.35 inches thick and weighs 1.32 pounds. Available in May for $449 for 16GB, $529 for 32GB.
•Excite 13: Has a 13.3-inch AutoBrite LED display at 1600x900 resolution (138 ppi). Is 0.4 inches thick and weighs 2.2 pounds. Available in June for $649 for 32GB, $749 for 64GB.
The Excite 10 will be on sale May 6th, beginning at $449.99 for 16GB of internal storage. The Excite 7.7 and Excite 13, meanwhile, will be available at June 10th. The Excite 7.7 will start at $499.99 for a 16GB model, while the Excite 13 will start at $649.99 for a 32GB model.
